"When I stumble on prose that moves me, I don’t want to merely taste or borrow it. I want to own it. I want to embody the words whereby they become part of my mental and emotional machinery. I want to see the world and act in it differently because the author’s language has imprinted itself inside of me." Dang Jared, I want to feel that too! I feel like I've read a lot of uninspiring books recently due to following trends or whatever and you make me want to go and invest time in reading the books I really loved. You make a great point, I love this idea of investing in a piece over simply consuming it.

I loved this! Especially the idea of crystallized insight and how it can lead to action. I'm always guilty of consuming and reading too much but not taking enough action. Committing to conscious re-reading sounds like a perfect solution for this. Thanks for sharing, Jared! :)

Wonderful read. Get use to the spice! 😉 And I love the call out and inclusion to reread your own work. This idea of letting those words and thoughts soak into the groundwater of your mind is good. Too often we’re just jumping and consuming the next thing. Thanks, enjoyed this mightily.

The "crystallization of insight" - I love this call to pursue depth in knowledge-gathering. We never read a book we'll be tested on only once, so I wonder why we do that with other types of reading.

Okay, I loooooved this:

"When I stumble on prose that moves me, I don’t want to merely taste or borrow it. I want to own it. I want to embody the words whereby they become part of my mental and emotional machinery. I want to see the world and act in it differently because the author’s language has imprinted itself inside of me. "

+1 to everything you said about rereading here!
